Pp. 17-51, "Prologue: Roots of the Holocaust", examine the situation in interwar Germany and the increasing antisemitism prior to the Nazis' accession to power. Pp. 53-653 relate events between 1933-46, from the Nazi takeover to the Nuremberg Trials, including Nazi anti-Jewish measures in Germany in 1933-38, the ghettoization in Eastern Europe, the Nazi mass murder and its machinery, Jewish resistance, Hungary as the last chapter of the Holocaust, the liberation of the camps, and political developments in postwar Palestine. In this section, details of events on specific dates are given at the bottom of each page. Pp. 655-698, "Epilogue: The Aftermath", discuss, inter alia, commemoration of the Holocaust, the establishment of the State of Israel, and punishment of Nazi war criminals after 1946.
